11 Keyboard Shortcut GEMS In Illustrator

today I have 11 of the most useful
keyboard shortcuts you can find in Illustrator some of them are obvious but
many of the shortcuts today you’re not going to be using or maybe you don’t
even know about them what is that people welcome back to
Satori graphics the home of graphic design content all right here on YouTube
in Illustrator when drawing with a pen tool or even
just making some shapes we often have the smart guides enabled when you have
them enabled you can see by gentle smart guides that they’re going to inform you
when you in line other design objects this can be useful but in some instances
it can actually be annoying because illustrator will snap your cursor on
your point other locations we can toggle between having the smart guides on or
off by pressing command or control U on your keyboard so now as you can see
there are no more magenta smart guides and this saves you time because you’re
not going to need to go into the Preferences to turn them off or on the
next keyboard shortcut is for making a compound path and we make compound paths
in Illustrator for various different reasons and normally you need to go into
the top drop-down menu however you can simply press command or control 8 to
turn the object into a compound path one reason we make a compound path is to
enable a shape to be turned into a clipping mask we can normally do this by
right or control clicking the selection like so however you can press command or control
seven to make a clipping mask another nifty keyboard shocker in Adobe
Illustrator sometimes when working illustrator we might have a very busy
artboard and thus we want to hide some objects instead of completely removing
them to do this select the objects and press command or control 3 and of course
to unhide the object you can press option command or option control and
three another shortcut it saves you a lot of time is pasting in front or
behind up an object when we copy an object we command or control C we often
paste the object the command or control V if we want to place the object
directly in the same position we can instead press command or control F which
is also going to make sure it’s in the front of all other layers and objects
hence the command shocker F put in front alternatively we can press command or
control B to paste it to the very back of all objects on your design I use this
keyboard shortcut a lot when working with an illustrator the next shortcut is
based around typography we can press T for the type tool but also pressing
command or control T will bring up the type window but yet further still we can
quickly increase or decrease the size of your text with the two keyboard
shortcuts that you’re seeing on screen now these are also shortcuts I often use in
Illustrator and all of the shortcuts in today’s video are going to save you
heaps of time when used in combination the next Shaka is super useful and you
should be using in your workflow first we can duplicate a shape by holding down
the alt/option key but we can actually repeat that process with command or
control D now this is very useful indeed and I use this almost every single
design in some way shape or form it’s a true time-saver if you want to access the illustrator
preferences we often need to go to the top left of the menu like so however you
can simply press command or control K now I’ve actually made a great video on
my favorite custom settings within the Preferences and you can check that out
linked in the top right corner another illustrator shortcut that I use
every single day is command or control G to group objects together you should
also note that it is a shortcut to ungroup objects too both are really
handy to know the next two shortcuts are quite obvious to some but we will start
learning so – traitor and I’m sure some people don’t know them yet and that is
how to zoom in and out considering we use these commands all of the time I
need to mention them and lastly to quickly move around the
artboard hold down the spacebar and click and drag this one is so simple but
I couldn’t live without it on work English writer I’ll use it literally all
the time now if you find my content you saw and you want to expand your skills
