Creación de pelo 3D con XGen de Maya – Curso online de Juan Paulo Mardónez

Hi, my name is Juan Paulo Mardónez
and I’m a 3D artist. I started my career as a designer,
but after a while I veered towards the world of animation
and visual effects, when I created Leyenda Producciones. I focus on animated commercials and visual effects, created solely in 3D or integrating real footage. I worked with prominent agencies
like BBDO, Porta, Dittborn & Unzueta, for brands like Banco Estado,
Cencosud, Metrogas, and many others. I love to innovate. Through the years,
it has allowed me to find ways to solve technically complex problems, dividing them up into small,
digestible units until we arrive at simpler fragments. One of those challenges is the creation
of 3D fur, since it amounts to a digital imitation of a real-life phenomenon. In this course,
I’ll show you how to create 3D fur in a clear and easily applicable way. The idea is to create the fur
for a fictional character overcoming each obstacle. We’ll start analyzing
photographic references, reducing them to the smallest unit, the hair or fiber. I’ll show you how to set up Maya
to foster the conditions of creative work. We’ll do an introduction
and optimization of the Xgen interface,
and then explore its tools. I’ll explain the importance
of prototyping as a trial-and-error process
prior to developing the project. I’ll show you how to apply modifiers
that add complexity to the fur, and then we’ll delve
into other prototyping tools. Once in the creation stage,
you’ll learn to design the character, and I’ll show you how to create the fur descriptions
and their orientation. I’ll show you how to light the character to fully highlight the fur in Maya, and transfer the images to Photoshop, where we’ll touch up
and finalize the process. With these steps you’ll be able to create
every hair of your fictional character. For this course, you’ll need
a basic knowledge of modeling and UV creation in Maya. You’ll need a computer
with Maya 2018 or higher, and Photoshop for the post-production. This course is aimed
at illustrators, designers, modelers, and character creators
for any kind of production. 3D Hair Creation with Maya XGen
