Dab Stencils introduction featuring Cher Pendarvis
Dab Stencils Introduction Hi there! I’m artist and author Cher Pendarvis. I’m very excited about the new Dab Stencil brushes in Painter. Let’s have a look at them. On screen, we have three brushstrokes each painted with a different dab stencil brush. The dab stencil brushes mask or knock out areas of the brush dab, making areas of the brushstroke transparent. They use stencil media such as flow maps, papers and textures. To try out the Dab Stencil brushes, go to the brush selector and choose the Dab Stencil category. We’ll click this little arrow right here to open the brush selector, and you’ll notice that the Flow map, Smooth Wet Oil example, is chosen. I used it to paint this brushstroke right here. So let’s make a brushstroke and you’ll see that the flow map is enhancing the brushstroke Next let’s paint with the Paper Bristle Glazing right here, we’ll choose a different color and this one uses paper as its Dab Stencil. And finally, we’ll paint with the texture stencil soft which shows the chosen texture. I hope you enjoyed this short overview of the Dab Stencil brushes. Look for the more detailed tutorial on Dab Stencils and happy painting!
