hi there this is ernan from 102 West PC services, in this video I will show you how to type texts on a spiral path using Adobe Photoshop CS6. Unlike other YouTube tutorials, I made it a point that this will be very easy to follow We will not go to the process of making the complicated spiral path instead we will use a ready-made spiral image to work on I’ve provided the download link on the video description below, scroll at the bottom of the page and download the image once downloaded open the image with Adobe Photoshop — first we need to rotate the image press CONTROL + T to activate the transform tool once you see the curved arrow cursor or drag the mouse to rotate the image press ENTER to apply the transformation now we need to resize the spiral a little smaller so it won’t touch the edge of the canvas. Before we resize we will set up guidelines, click VIEW select NEWGUIDE, we will set a vertical guide at 50 percent then click OK, Click VIEW one more time select NEWGUIDE and set the horizontal guide at 50 percent click OK next we will create a new layer by clicking the NEW LAYER TOOLL, Drag the new layer to the bottom of the spiral image set the foreground color to white by clicking the REVERT icon grab the BUCKET FILL TOOL, fill the new layer with white let’s rename the image layer with spiral and rename the layer below as white right click on the spiral layer and go to BLENDING OPTIONS put a check on COLOR OVERLAY set the color to black then click OK now we have a black spiral now press CTRL + T to activate the TRANSFORM TOOL, grab the corner handle and drag the mouse to resize the image zoom in on the image and place the center of the spiral on the intersection of the guidelines grab the MOVE TOOL and apply the the formation next go to the image layer right click and click RASTERIZE LAYER STYLE next grab the MAGIC WAND TOOL zoom in on the image and click anywhere on the lines will notice the MARCHING ANTS all over the image right click anywhere on the line select MAKE WORK PATH make sure the TOLERANCE is at 2.0 pixels now we are ready to type the text make sure the foreground color is black click on the TEXT TOOL Hover the cursor over the path to check if we can type the text I have already made the text this project all I need to do is copy the text from this word document and paste it to our Photoshop document highlight all the texts then right click and copy go back to the Photoshop document with the TEXT TOOL selected, click on the outer line of the spiral then press CTRL + V to paste the text as you can see the texts did not fit the lines of the spiral, to RESOLVE this, select all the texts by pressing CTRL + A simply RESIZE THE FONT SIZE until it fits the line from start to end there we have it now hide the spiral layer by clicking the EYE beside it THE layer is now hidden. Next we go to VIEW and click CLEAR GUIDES I will now apply some EFFECTS to our texts. To do this, right click on the text layer and choose BLENDING OPTIONS CLICK the GRADIENT OVERLAY choose any overlay presets i will choose the SPECTRUM STYLE as you can see the text already changes in color next, I’m going to add the DROP SHADOW EFFECT FEEL FREE TO EXPERIMENT any of these BLENDING OPTIONS add STROKE, BEVEL & EMBOSS, INNER SHADOW and anything here as long as it best suits your project once the TEXT EFFECTS are done You can add an image at the bottom of the text layer, it can be anything depending on your preference here I placed pastel-color flowers behind the texts As I said, feel free to experiment there are many options to choose from when you’re on Photoshop.
