Lowkey – Internet manipulation
Today the internet and our data are putty in the hands of corporations and governments. We are subject to hundreds of experiments every single day with every link that we click on the internet. There is no privacy afforded to us. Our information is being bidded upon by companies in order to better advertise things to us. The intelligence services, the military intelligence in this country. The Ministry of Defence have a whole unit, the 77th Brigade with a 1,500 British soldiers in it working to psychologically manipulate you. If the walls to our privacy do not exist and if companies and the government have free reign and access to whatever they want about what we do, the metadata of our communications, where we go, what time we go, if they are able to algorithmatise our behaviour in order to better persuade us to buy things or in order to manipulate what we think about the world then why should we respect the invisible digital walls we have. All of us are Julian Assange and all of us need to make that information as free as possible.
