Today we’re reviewing a book with a VERY
long title! National Geographic Kids’ “Guide To Photography: Tips & Tricks on How to Be
a Great Photographer From the Pros & Your Pals at My Shot.” It is scheduled to be
released on August 4, 2015. It’s no secret that National Geographic photographers get
great shots, but how are they at teaching kids to get those shots? Let find out as we
share a glimpse of this new book. My family LOVES video and photography! And
now a days most people, including kids have some kind of camera in their pocket. So when
National Geographic offered to send us a copy of Guide To Photography, I had to say yes. Whether your child wants to take photos with
a smartphone, gopro, DSLR, or disposable camera, this book gives step-by-step instructions
for composing, lighting, shooting, editing and sharing the perfect shot. Advanced concepts
such as aperture and depth of field are demonstrated through easy to understand examples. We found this book to be very well put together,
detailed and thorough. It’s filled with before and after shots that offer visual examples,
tips and photographs from National Geographic pros, as well as assignments are featured
throughout the book. Although written for ages 8-12, the book is
great for adults who could use a refresher for their photo skills or even learn. I personally
found it helpful in doing some of our photography and video. Additionally, young photographers can continue
improving their skills by showcasing their photographs online on the National Geographic
Kids “My Shot photography community”. This is the only moderated online photography
community where kids can safely share their photos, comment on each other’s pictures,
and take challenges from National Geographic editors. If you’re interested, I’ll have
the link in the description below. “So it’s not about how many pictures you take. It’s about how cool those pictures
are!” We highly recommend this book for all budding photographers who want to learn
how to take cool pictures. Now I’d like to hear from you in the comments
below, “what tips and recommendations do you have for young photographers?” And,
