Photoshop for Beginners : Photoshop Tutorial: Desaturate Command

Now I’m going to show you the desaturation
button in our adjustments menu here. If we look here on our screen we can see that under
image, down to adjustments, we’ll come down and we’ll hit desaturate, and what this’ll
do is this will actually turn this into a black and white photo like so, sapping all
the color out of it. If we come over here, we can come to our channels path, and see
that all of our channels, our red, green, and blues have all been switched to a black
and white scale, so there is no color left in this, and it’s really great, because it
has blended this photo really well since I desaturated it; making it a perfect black
and white photo. So there’s many ways that you can do this, and this is being the easiest
way, and this has many more uses. Just you know, play around with it, have fun, and you
know, as always, just you know remember your shortcut keys, which on this one was command,
hmm, what was it? I don’t really use this enough to tell you what the shortcut key is
right out of my head; command, shift and U to take your photo into black and white mode,
so play around with it, have fun, and enjoy.
